The Boys & Girls Clubs of Stoneham & Wakefield Recognized for Finding a Silver Lining During the Pandemic

Representatives from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Stoneham & Wakefield attended NEEBC’s Silver Linings Awards Conference to celebrate being named a Silver Lining Awardee. The celebration, which took place on Thursday, September 23rd at Bentley University, brought together a wide variety of organizations that all found a silver lining in the tumultuous past 18 months.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Stoneham & Wakefield were selected as a NEEBC Silver Lining Award winner. The Silver Lining Award is awarded to organizations that did noteworthy and inspirational work in regards to supporting employees and their business over the past 18 months despite the many challenges the Covid-19 pandemic brought.

The award was in honor of the human resource initiatives added during the pandemic and the commitment of Boys & Girls Clubs staff to meet the needs of one another while supporting our community. “These initiatives would not have been possible without each of the club’s staff members. The responsibilities of employees shifted as we responded to changing needs and our employees never wavered. When Covid-19 shut our clubs down, our employees had to find a way to support the community while still being safe. Our operations shifted from running child care facilities to running fully virtual programming, virtual mentorship meetings, a food delivery service for food-insecure families, and even around-the-clock production of PPE equipment.” commented Boys & Girls Clubs CEO Adam Rodgers.

“Since March of 2020, we have had so many opportunities to make an impact on our communities and provide a safety net for families that need it most; none of that could have been fulfilled without the dedication and resiliency of our staff team.  The agility and self-sacrifice that they have displayed throughout the pandemic has been truly inspirational.  We are so grateful that HUB International identified us as a candidate for this award and that the New England Employee Benefits Council recognized us as a leader in employee engagement,” commented John Brinkman, Boys & Girls Clubs of Stoneham & Wakefield chief operating officer.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Stoneham & Wakefield was nominated by HUB International’s Kevin Mason.
